Comfortable and Warm
By Carlos Rosario
The boots are made from thick rubber and therefore heavy. So it will take a little time to get used to them if you never wore anything like them before. After you take them off the first time you feel like you were walking with ankle weights on. They are warm and comfortable for what I purchased them for: to walk my dog in the rain and snow on grass and cold concrete sidewalks. Just bought them in Nov. But Winter has not yet hit Virginia. Is almost mid December and the temp is in the 50's and 60s. So I can't tell how warm they will be when it get into the 20s. They are rated to minus 47 degrees so they should feel warm in the teens if it will ever get that cold again in Virginia. If they do not keep my feet warm during Virginia's mild winters then I will be disappointed. I will update in February when it normally gets real cold here if only for a few days.
I normally wear 8 1/2 but these boots only come in whole sizes. So I bought the 9 size. They are a little large but ok with my heavy wool hiking socks. No slipping up and down of my feet when walking. The boots slip on easily and require a little pull to take them off. I live near a stream that flows into the Potomac River and plan to wade into the waters with them to pick up junk that runs off from the streets. Because the boots are not knee high I will have to make sure the water is not more than 12 inches high. I will provide updates on that too. Right now the stream is too high to wade into it. The quality appears to be great.
You can wear them with your pants inside the boots or if you have boot cut pants, they will fit inside your pants. So the straps at the top do not rub against my chin I let them hang loose. If you wear your pants inside the boots or wear long johns, you can tide them up to help keeping snow or water out or from you stepping out of them in a mud hole.
These are hunting or working boots. They look huge on your feet so don't buy them if you just want to wear these to look cool. You won't. Since I will only wear these less than 30 minutes a day (and only on rainy or snowy days) they should last years if not decades.
